AIRS offered 8 full year studio residencies, 5 pilot residencies and 2 media arts residencies in 14 elementary schools in the Vancouver School District for the 2019/20 school year. These residencies engaged students in diverse projects and explorations that encompassed a multiplicity of different mediums and concepts.
The suspension of schools in March 2019 due to COVID-19 necessitated the relocation of the physical space of the studio to a virtual art experience online.
Full Year Studios
Artists work one day a week in the studio for a year with students across the whole school.
Pilot Studios
Artists work one day a week in the studio with three classes for eight weeks.
Media Arts Residencies
Artists work with students on media arts projects
To visit each studio and discover more about the artist’s vision and student work, please tour our Virtual Exhibition.
