We invite you to be part of our story in making space for the transformative potential of the arts for children by supporting local artists in schools.
Every donation no matter how big or small makes a difference.
AIRS is looking for longterm financial partners who share an understanding of the importance of art education for children within public education to help us grow the reach and impact of our program.
Ongoing donations provide stability and continuity at each school.
AIRS financial partners may choose to sponsor a studio residency at a particular school.
As an equity seeking program, we prioritize schools who would otherwise lack the means to support arts programming.
AIRS currently has studio residencies in 15 public elementary schools in Vancouver. Our goal is to expand the AIRS program through mentorship of new artists and creating studio spaces in new schools as additional funding becomes available.
Together we are bringing the transformative power of the arts back into public education.
Sustained participation in the AIRS program has shown demonstrable impact on student well being in terms of confidence, creative expression, resilience, agency, and empathy. AIRS program embeds art into the very heart of the school community fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion in community.
The Artist In Residence Studio program is honoured to be working together on the unceded, unsurrendered and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm|Musqueam, Sḵwxwú7mesh|Squamish & səlilwətaɬ |Tsleil-Waututh people, where we learn, live and work. We humbly acknowledge that we are unlearning and relearning and with this acknowledgement comes the commitment to engage in ongoing acts of reconciliation.
