Advisory Council

  

The AIRS program was founded by Maggie Milne Martens  and VSB teacher Colleen Mieczaniec in 2015. It is managed by Celia Jong- District Arts Coordinator and Christine  Giesbrecht- District Mentor Teacher at the Vancouver School Board, working in consultation with the AIRS advisory council. This model of consultation ensures best practices for creating sustainable, successful and meaningful artist-studio residencies for students and teachers.

Land Acknowledgement

The Artist In Residence Studio program is honoured to be working together on the unceded, unsurrendered and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm|Musqueam, Sḵwxwú7mesh|Squamish & səlilwətaɬ |Tsleil-Waututh people, where we learn, live and work. We humbly acknowledge that we are unlearning and relearning and with this acknowledgement comes the commitment to engage in ongoing acts of reconciliation.
